He was a lifetime charter member of the Denver Lions Club and received the Coleman Honorary Award from the Iowa Lions Foundation. Wendell enjoyed showing and raising cattle with his children and grandchildren. One of his proudest moments was earning the Reserve Grand Champion title at American Royal in Kansas City in 1998.
