Therese M. Connell, 92 of Clive, Iowa and formerly from Waverly, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at her residence in Clive.

Therese Marguerite Connell was born on April 15, 1927, in Taunton, Massachusetts, the daughter of Alfred Dona and Emma (Blais) Garceau. She attended school in Taunton and following her education she worked for 2-3 years in a defense factory in Taunton during WWII. She was united in marriage to Ivan Charles Connell on November 3, 1945 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Taunton. Following their marriage the couple moved to Anamosa, Iowa for a brief time, before returning to Taunton. In 1947, the couple moved to Waverly and farmed North of Waverly for 28 years. In 1975, Therese and Ivan moved to Stockton, Minnesota. Together they owned and operated a gas station and Therese also worked at the local post office. Ivan died in 1995 and in 1997, Therese moved to Dahinda, Illinois. Therese returned to Waverly in 2003, and then moved to Clive, Iowa in 2011.

Therese was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waverly. She enjoyed playing cards; puzzles and she made a number of quilts for her grandchildren.

Therese is survived by her children, daughter, Shari (Vic) Jamnik of Dunlap, Illinois; daughter, Sheila Nordgaard of Arcadia, Wisconsin; daughter, Sue (Tom) Tegtmeier of Ogden, Iowa; and daughter, Pat (Jim) Hoppenworth of Polk City, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren, Chris (Janine) Dearing and their children, Dean, Grace and Claire; Amy (Brian) Pfautsch and their children, Julia, Jackson, Clay, Ivan, and Ruby; Shannon (Jane) Hinrichs and their children, Shannon (Estella), Tyler, Ryan, Cheyenne (Robert), Hawken, Pete, and Megan; Kate Starczynski and her children, Mikeala and her daughter, Rhea; Skylar and her son, Daniel; and Sommer; Amanda (Steve) Killian and their children, Sam, Christian, Olivia, Bo and Jack; Adam (Jennifer) Nordgaard and their children, Nolan and Lauren; Vanessa (Nick) Trim and their children, Evan and Hailey; Samantha (Chris) Burt and their children, Desiree (Ben) and their daughter Lydia; Kelsey (Brian) and their son, Chris; Tanner and Tyler; Jesse Tegtmeier and his children, Riley, Ethan and Nautica; Morgan Tegtmeier; Kiel (Julie) Hoppenworth and their son, Colt; Ashley (Aaron) Steen and their children, Charlie and Chloe; and Courtney (Joel) Fohrman and their children, Max, Jane and Jack; and one sister, Eleanor Deragon of Lakeville, Massachusetts. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ivan, eight brothers, three sisters, a grandson, Ryan Hinrichs, and a great granddaughter, Maggie Hinrichs.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Mary Catholic Church in Waverly. Inurnment will be held at a later date in St. Mary Cemetery, Waverly. Visitation will be held an hour before services at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be directed to the St. Mary’s Building Fund or the charity of your choice and online condolences for Therese may be left at
