Ruth M. Jones, 82, of Janesville, Iowa, died Monday morning, July 25, 2005, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo from complications of lymphoma.
Ruth was born on February 28, 1923, in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of Fred and Effie (Geerdes) Erbes. Ruth attended the Janesville School System and on July 22, 1939, she was united in marriage to Francis Jones at the Presbyterian Church in Waverly. The couple made there home in Janesville, where they raised their family. In 1975, Ruth worked for the Janesville School System in the food services department, until she retired in 1992.
Ruth was a longtime member of the Janesville United Methodist Church, where she was active with the U.M.W. She enjoyed playing cards and working in her flower garden.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Francis Jones of Janesville, two daughters and their husbands, Nola and Mart Woeste of Janesville, Janice and Harold Bowles of Unionville, Missouri, one son and his wife, Alan and Linda Jones of Cedar Falls; eight grandchildren, Dr. Lori Woeste of Hudson, Illinois, Brad Woeste of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Amy Albaugh of West Des Moines, Iowa, Lynette Bowles of Springville, Iowa, Brent Bowles of Searcy, Arkansas, Holli Neil of Jesup, Iowa, Patrick Jones of Decatur, Illinois, Katie Fleshner of Waterloo, Iowa; and seventeen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Donald Erbes.
Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, July 28, 2005, at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Janesville, with Pastor Kerrin Kirkpatrick officiating. Burial will be in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Cedar Falls. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. Thursday at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, and also for an hour before services on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the United Methodist Church in Janesville, and condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
