Roland (Rollie) Wedemeier, 81, of Hudson, died Saturday, December 31st, 2016, at Ravenwood Specialty Care, Waterloo, Iowa.
He was born January 27, 1935, in Denver, Iowa, to John and Thelma (Heideman) Wedemeier. On August 5, 1956, he married Lorna V. Stahr at St. Lukes Lutheran Church, Traer, Iowa.
Rollie graduated from Denver High School, attended Minneapolis College of Music, served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict 1951-1953. He worked in construction side by side with his father, and then began his own business of Wedemeier Construction until medical problems arose. Refocusing, he graduated from Hawkeye Institute of Technology and began teaching Building Trades and Architectural and Construction Drafting for the next 23 years at Hawkeye Community College from where he retired.
He is survived by his wife, one son, Scott (Penny) Wedemeier of Galesburg, Illinois, two daughters; Rebecca Wedemeier of Des Moines, Iowa and Heidi Hebron of Topeka, Kansas, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren, three sisters, Ruth Barnes of Grand Forks, North Dakota, Grace Foelske of Waterloo and Evon Wedemeier of Cedar Falls. He is preceded in death by two sons, Jeffrey Wedemeier and Gregory Wedemeier, his parents, sister Catherine Foelske, and three brothers-in-law, Richard Foelske, Donald Barnes and Wilbert Foelske.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Denver with Rev. Craig Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Waterloo with Military Rites by Acker-Matthias American Legion Post #653 of Denver. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral at the church. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice or Saint Paul United Church of Christ in Denver.
