Richard "Rick" Joseph Freitag, 65, of Readlyn, passed away at his residence on Thursday, December 22, 2016.
Rick was born March 1, 1951, in West Point, Iowa, the son of Linus and Celeste (Winnike) Freitag. He graduated from Marquette High School and was drafted into the United States Army Reserves. On March 3, 1973, he was united in marriage to Debra Merchman in St. Paul, Iowa. The couple would later divorce.
Rick spent his working life on the road; 26 years with Warren Transport, six years with Ihele Transport, and most recently owned Friday Pilot Car service. He was a longtime volunteer with the West Point Fire Department. He was a member of the Acker-Matthias Legion in Denver, enjoyed boating, golf, and socializing with friends. He was a Chicago Bear and NASCAR fan.
Rick is survived by two sons; Nick Freitag of Goldfield, Iowa and Seth (Brianna) Freitag of Readlyn, two daughters; Molly (fiancé Jules) Kayser of Iowa City, Iowa and Katie (Aaron) Miller of Marion, Iowa, five grandchildren; Nathaniel, Natalie, Noes, Alyissa, and Alexisone sister; Marylinn (Ron) Fedler of West Point, Iowa. He is preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Denver. Memorial contributions may be made to the family. On-line condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
