Patricia Ann (Heidt) Scoles, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, age 73, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on May 24, 2014, at Friendship Village Pavilion in Waterloo.
Pat was born on May 21, 1941, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Armour Paul and Marguerite Virginia (McMullen) Heidt. She was baptized on July 6, 1942, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waterloo. She was confirmed on January 20, 1954, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly. She graduated from Waverly High School in 1959, received her Bachelor's Degree from Clarke College in 1963 and her Master's Degree from the University of Southern California in 1971. She was united in marriage to Dr. Donald "Gordy" Scoles on November 6, 1980. She taught at St. Edward Catholic School in Waterloo from 1963-65; Department of Defense Schools from 1966-1978 in Okinawa and Germany; St. Patrick's School in Cedar Falls from 1984-1986; Marlboro County School District in South Carolina from 1986-1994; Sacred Heart Catholic School in Boone, Iowa from 1994-1997. She returned to Marlboro County School District in 1997 and retired as a teacher in 2004. Pat continued as the director of Induction and Mentoring for the School District of Marlboro County until 2011.
She was a member of the Delta Kappa Gamma, St. Andrews Book Club and Read-A-Book Club. She enjoyed reading and traveling. During her travels she visited over 30 countries.
Pat is survived by her husband, Gordy Scoles of Waterloo, Iowa; three daughters, Kristin Uribe of Pearland, Texas; Molly (Jason) Cooper of Norwalk, Iowa; and Therese Scoles of Bennettsville, South Carolina; five grandchildren, Juan, Michael, Gabriel, and Anna Uribe, and Alex Cooper, and a brother, Michael (Charlene) Heidt of Marshallville, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Daniel Heidt.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly with Father David Schatz officiating. Burial will be held in Harlington Cemetery in Waverly. Visitation will be held on Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. There will be a 7:00 p.m. Vigil Service on Thursday at the funeral home.
