Pamela Jean “Pam” Stevens, 68, of Shell Rock, Iowa, passed away peacefully Sunday morning at her home in Shell Rock with her loving family by her side.
Pam was born on September 13, 1949, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Kenneth Fred and Evelyn Ruth (Biermann) Drape. Pam was baptized at her home in Tripoli on October 2, 1949, by Rev. Theo Blaufus and confirmed on April 7, 1963, at Faith United Church of Christ in Tripoli, by Rev. Ewald Tuhlmann. She graduated from the Tripoli High School and from Northeast Iowa Community College in 1990, Calmer, Iowa, with her degree as a Registered Nurse. Pam worked in various nursing homes and for the American Red Cross in Waterloo.
On August 18, 1990, Pam was united in marriage to Ronald “Billy” Stevens at the Little Brown Church in Nashua.
Pam enjoyed gardening, decorating her home for the holidays, was a wonderful cook (she liked trying new recipes for Billy and her family). She was a very dedicated and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Pam is survived by her loving husband, Ron Stevens of Shell Rock, Iowa; her 3 daughters and son, Sandy (Michael) Shonka of Nora Springs, Iowa, Joseph Sievers of Plainfield, Iowa, Kristy (Josh) Knutson of Humeston, Iowa, and Retha (Mike) Praska of Alta Vista, Iowa; 10 grandchildren; and two brothers, Larry Drape of Frederika, Iowa, and Daniel Drape of Wasilla, Alaska. Pam was preceded in death by her parents, Kenneth and Evelyn Drape and a brother, Steven Drape.
Private family services will be held at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock, with Unity Point Hospice Chaplain Pastor Allen Biere officiating. Burial will be in Wilson Grove Cemetery, Sumner, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family where a memorial designation will be established later.
