Obituary

Myrna Jane (Krull) Bogan, 72, of Clarksville, Iowa, and formerly of Waverly, died on Friday evening, November 7, 2014, at the Clarksville Skilled Nursing & Rehab Center from complications of Multiple Sclerosis.

Myrna was born on August 26, 1942, in Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Bernice (Hinders) Krull. She was baptized at St. John Lutheran Church in Clarksville, on September 16, 1942, and confirmed in the same church on March 25, 1956. Myrna attended school in Clarksville, and on May 6, 1958, was united in marriage to Larry "Bogie" Bogan at the First Methodist Church in Waverly. The couple made their home in Waverly, where Myrna raised her family of four daughters. On July 29, 1974, Myrna became employed in the custodial department of the Schield Bantam Company in Waverly. She worked there until July, 1981, then took employment part time at the Waverly Municipal Hospital and the First National Bank in Waverly, and again worked for the Bantam Co. from September, 1983 to August 15, 1986. In May of 1986, Myrna was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Myrna and Larry were divorced in 1989, and Myrna continued to live in Waverly until becoming a resident of the Clarksville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in August of 1991. Despite her progressive illness, Myrna maintained a positive attitude.

Myrna learned to play the piano as an adult. She enjoyed furniture refinishing, hand crafts, picture puzzles, playing cards, and physical fitness, especially swimming. She was always eager to help out in any way possible. Myrna loved kids, and it was important for her to teach kids the proper or right way to do something. Her children remember her insistence on keeping things nice and neat, so she wouldn't be embarrassed when someone came over. She was known to be amazingly patient, and slow to anger. She was truly a good person.

Myrna is survived by her mother, Bernice Krull; four daughters, Sherry Lynn Johnston of Dubuque, Iowa, Rhonda Jean Fiske of Mount Union, Iowa, and Mary Lee Bogan, and Kimberly Ann Bogan, both of Waverly, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, Fanessa Johnson, Trisha Droste, Daniel, Crystal, and Cyrus Fiske, Kale Hammons, Christopher Nieman, Michael Mehmen, and Lee Averhoff; eleven great-grandchildren, Franklin, Camden and Sienna Mehmen, Rylin, Rhyker and Trey Averhoff, Kya Droste, Jewel and Jacob Olmstead, Ariana Johnson and Christian Fiske; three brothers, Michael Krull and Richard Krull both of Clarksville, Iowa, and John Krull of Osage, Iowa; and several nieces and nephews. Myrna was preceded in death by her father; and a granddaughter, Nichole "Snicker Doodles" Marie Averhoff.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am, on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, with Pastor Bill Carpenter officiating. The family will greet friends at the funeral home from 10:00 to 11:00 am on Thursday, November 13, 2014. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
