Mary Munson, 88 of Janesville, Iowa and formerly from Cedar Falls passed away on Monday, June 24, 2013 at her residence in Janesville, Iowa.
Mary Rose Munson was born January 23, 1925, the daughter of Charles E. and Bertha H. (Pierce) Howe in Lawler, Iowa. Following her education she worked at a sewing factory in New Hampton. On August 8, 1949, she was united in marriage to Gerald G. Munson in Bradford, Iowa. Mary helped her husband, Gerald run the Munson Refrigeration business and novelty shop.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, listening to Bluegrass music and playing the guitar.
Survivors are her four daughters, Jacquelyn (Mike) Green of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Lynda Munson of Janesville, Iowa, Janine Henriksen of Cedar Falls, Iowa and Lori (Kevin) Havel of Altoona, Iowa; 7 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren; and two sisters, Bessie Mokasak of Denver, Iowa and Dorothy Eick of South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gerald G. Munson; son, Gerald G. Munson Jr.; 3 sisters, Zenita Leach, Dorcas Harmening and Eunice Thompson; and 5 brothers, Billy Howe, Clifford Howe, Wallace Howe, Russell Howe and Louie Howe.
Memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at 11:00 am at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Warren Curry officiating. Inurnment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery in Cedar Falls, Iowa. There will be no public visitation; per Mary's request her body has been cremated. The family will greet family and friends an hour prior to the memorial service at the funeral home on Saturday.
