Marc Jon Kazda was born August 7, 1962 in Waverly, Iowa, the son of Irvin and Darlys (Arenholz) Kazda. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly, and attended school in Waverly, graduating in 1980 from Waverly Shell Rock High School. He then worked for Gambles Store, Oberheu Restaurant, Bonzer's Redemption Center, Bills Standard, Henke Manufacturing in Waverly and for 17 years he worked as a heavy equipment operator for Bremer County landfill and the Floyd, Mitchell, Chickasaw Landfill, until 2007 when ill health forced him to retire. He married Laura Ann Fails on April 28th, 1984, and the couple later divorced. Marc enjoyed reading, cooking, watching Nascar racing, Wheel of Fortune and the Antique Road Show. He loved spending time with his nieces and nephews, helping his parents with the Farmers Market and being outdoors: fishing , gardening, and watching Scruffy the tiny deer, Bubble Butt the Squirrel, Habeb his cat, and his many other friends in nature.
Marc died peacefully at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home on Good Friday, April 10th, 2009, surrounded by his family and friends. He is survived by his parents; Irvin and Darlys; three brothers and their families; Steve (Joyce) Kazda and Richard (Deena) Kazda of Waverly and Daryl (Sherry) Kazda of Plainfield; Aunt and Uncle; Arlan and Mary Lampe of Waverly; many nieces and nephews and one great nephew in Tennessee and his ex-wife Laura. Marc was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Harm and Esther Arenholz, his paternal grandparents, Joseph and Roselea Kazda, and cousins Brian and Bill Lampe.
Prayer services will be held on Monday, April 13, 2009, 8:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly, with cremation to follow. Visitation will be on Monday from 5:00 pm until the Prayer Service at 8:00 pm. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation.
