Loren Eick, 80, of Denver, Iowa, died on December 23, 2016, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Loren was born on January 23, 1936, in Bremer County, Iowa, the son of Arthur and Lucille (Kammeyer) Eick. He was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Readlyn and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church, Crane Creek. He was united in marriage to Sandra Sue Poock on September 12, 1958, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Maxfield.
Loren worked as an over the road trucker; driving for A.C. Strottman, Seegers Truck Line and Elliott Truck Line. He also farmed for many years.
He was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church, Denver and previously served on the board of directors for First Maxfield Mutual Insurance in Denver. Loren loved day trips, trying new restaurants, Polka music and playing cards. Family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren.
Loren is survived by his wife, Sandra Sue Eick of Denver, Iowa; two sons, Douglas (Gayle) Eick of Denver, Iowa; and David (Robin) Eick of Oelwein, Iowa; four grandchildren, Nicole and Matthew Eick of Denver and Samantha and William Eick of Oelwein; and a sister, Jeri Johnson of Ottumwa, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Delores Eick and a brother-in-law, Ronald Johnson.
Funeral services will be held at St. Peter Lutheran Church, 540 E. Franklin St. in Denver at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 29, 2016, with Pastor Ron Mathews officiating. Burial will be held in St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery, Denver. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 pm. to 6:00 pm at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver and also for one hour prior to services on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice or to the family.
