Larry Dean Nolte, 65, of Waverly, Iowa, died Saturday morning, January 7, 2017 at home. Larry's strong faith sustained him through many years of serious health issues and his positive attitude was an inspiration to others.

Larry was born on October 20, 1951, at Waverly Hospital. Larry grew up on a farm in rural Waverly, and was baptized and confirmed at Warren United Methodist Church. He attended school at Waverly-Shell Rock and graduated in the class of 1969. On December 2, 1972, he married Janet Maxfield, and they later divorced. Larry worked at United Hydraulics in Hampton, IA and later worked for General Machine and Tool Company for over 20 years in Waverly, Iowa. He also worked alongside his father on the family farm. On June 7, 2003, he married Barbara Tripp Davis at Heritage United Methodist Church and the couple enjoyed retirement in Waverly.

Larry was a lifelong member of Heritage United Methodist Church (formerly Warren United Methodist Church) where he served as a lay leader and trustee. He was also a member and caretaker of the Warren Evangelical Cemetery Association for many years. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, singing, cars and motorcycles, and "fixing things" on the farm. He loved spending time with family.

Larry is survived by his wife, Barb Nolte of Waverly, IA, his daughter, Anjanette (Corey) Benning of Farmington, MN, and his son, Nicholas Nolte of New York, NY, Stacy (Clay) Claybourne of Omaha, NE, and Blaine (Wendy) Davis of Waverly, Iowa; his grandchildren, Cedar and Ansel Benning, Nicole and Branden Davis, and Seth Claybourne and one great granddaughter, Marlee Kuepfer; sisters, Verdina (David) Arenholz, Nancy (Grant) Jensen, Julie (Wally) Holding, Kathy (Jarvis) Engbrecht, and one brother Timothy (Kimberly) and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Melvin and Wava Nolte, a brother Lon Alan Nolte in infancy, a sister Janine Bogardus and brother-in-law, Larry Bogardus.

Burial will follow in Warren Evangelical Cemetery, rural Waverly.
