Jerry Oltrogge, 72, of Readlyn, Iowa, died on Tuesday, December 12, 2017, at ManorCare in Waterloo.
Jerry was born on December 14, 1944, in Readlyn, Iowa, the son of Harold and Edna (Poock) Oltrogge. He attended school in Readlyn and graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in 1962. Following high school, he worked as an apprentice plumber at Young Plumbing and Heating; Waterloo Tile and Marble; and Waterloo Industries. Jerry was united in marriage to Dianne Wittenburg on February 13, 1970 in Galena, Illinois. Jerry retired in 2004 from John Deere in Waterloo after 32 years. In his spare time, Jerry enjoyed woodworking and working with mechanical things.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Dianne of Readlyn; a son, Jason (Mindy) Oltrogge of Stanford, Montana; and a daughter, Carrie (Mason) Jones of Denver, Iowa; and two grandchildren, Audrey Oltrogge and Orren Oltrogge. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, James Oltrogge, and a niece, Becky Oltrogge.
Jerry’s body was deeded to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. There will be a Celebration of Jerry’s Life on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Watering Hole in Readlyn. Burial of his cremains will be held at a later date in Zion Lutheran Cemetery in Readlyn.
