Janet Kathryn (Hertel) Felberg, 65, of Laguna Beach, California passed away
peacefully on September 8, 2018. She was surrounded by family and friends during her 5 month battle with brain cancer.

Janet was born on September 1, 1953 in Waverly, Iowa, the daughter of
Elmer W. and Dorothy M. (Droste) Hertel. She attended St. Paul’s Lutheran School through eighth grade and completed her high school education at Waverly-Shell Rock High School. She attended Wartburg College, where she trained to be a medical technologist, and graduated in 1975.
Life adventures took her to Florida; she enrolled at the University of Miami, where she completed her MBA and started working in the medical device sector.

She had a successful career at several medical companies in southern California where she resided with her husband Craig. She finished her career as Vice-President of Global Marketing for Edwards Life Sciences. Janet retired in 2011. She enjoyed playing golf and traveling globally with Craig and friends.

She was a member of Mission Viejo Country Club where she was very active on the women’s golf committee. She participated in weekly golf league and club competition tournaments. She also enjoyed cooking and entertaining family and friends in their home.

Janet was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Waverly, Iowa in her growing up years. She was an active member of Mount of Olives Lutheran Church in Mission Viejo when she moved to California. She was currently serving on the Board of Regents for Wartburg College.

Janet is survived by her husband Craig Felberg, and his children
Paul Felberg (Rafaelle) of Beaumont, CA, and Sara Felberg Granger (Tom) of LaVerne, CA. They have 4 grandchildren: Katie, Brayden, Gracie and Dylan. She is also survived by her mother, Dorothy (Droste) Hertel, brother Gary Hertel (Nancy) of Madison, WI and sister Diane Hertel Thomason of Iowa City, IA. Also surviving are niece Kerry Hertel Boysen (Doug) of Corvallis, OR and nephew Andy Hertel of Galesburg, IL., and great niece and nephew, Clare and Benjamin Boysen. On the Felberg side, she is survived by Craig’s siblings: sisters Dadee (Conrad)Schlick and Lori (Don)Sayer; and brothers John (Robin ) and Robert. She is also survived by her Uncle Edward and Aunt Phyllis Droste, as well as her loving cousins Sue, Linda, Ed, Sally, Judy, John, Janice and Jennifer and their loved ones.

She is preceded in death by her father, Elmer W. Hertel, and stepson Ben Felberg.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on September 24, 2018 at 11:00 a.m.St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School in Waverly, Iowa, with Pastor Arthur Bergren officiating. A Celebration of Life service will also be held in Laguna Beach, California, date to be determined. Burial will be in the Harlington Cemetery, Waverly.
