James A. Aikey, 74, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, January 31, 2015, at Unity Point-Allen Hospital in Waterloo.
James was born February 17, 1940, the son of Gaylord and Merle (McCarter) Aikey in Janesville, Iowa. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School with the class of 1959. On January 10, 1959, he was united in marriage to Anne Heichel in Nashua, Iowa. The coupled owned and operated Aikey Auto Salvage in Cedar Falls for 35 years.
Jim enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and gambling. He also enjoyed watching the girls play ball.
He is survived by two sons, Jeff (Kelli) of Cedar Falls, and Jamie (Kelly) of Parkersburg; three daughters, Kim Miller of Waterloo, Julie (Mike) Feckers of Parkersburg, and Kristal (Jim) Knapp of Waterloo; 12 grandchildren, six great grandchildren; two sisters, Marlys Wersinger and Peggy Smith; one brother, Gail Aikey. He is preceded in death by his wife Anne; one son, Randy; one brother, Larry; and one grandchild, Olivia Aikey.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2015, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly. Burial will follow in the Washington Chapel Cemetery, rural Cedar Falls. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the services on Monday. Memorials may be directed to the family and on-line condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
