Gerry Lou Rindels, age 78, of Finchford, Iowa, died Tuesday, June 4th, 2019, at her home.
Gerry was born on January 10th, 1941, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Charles Daniel and Florence (Dray) Newell. She was raised in Janesville, where she was baptized and confirmed at Janesville United Methodist Church and attended Janesville High School. Gerry was united in marriage to Roger Rindels on December 20, 1958, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple made their home in Finchford where Gerry spent her time as a loving wife and mother of five children.
Gerry was loved by everyone and enjoyed friends and family stopping by the house to visit and enjoy a hot cup of coffee. Everyone enjoyed her humor, wit, and sarcasm and she would regularly lend them her advice on life’s matters. Gerry will be remembered as the glue that held her family together. She was an avid reader and an excellent cook and baker. She was a proud homemaker and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Gerry was an enthusiastic Iowa Hawkeyes fan and loved out-fishing her boys.
Gerry’s memory is honored by: her daughter, Kelly (Jaime) Pastor of Bedford, New Hampshire; three sons, Chris (Denise) Rindels of Rockford, Illinois; Tony Rindels of Finchford; and Nick (Carrie Jo) Rindels of Dewar; a foster son, Rick (Mary) Swarts of New Hartford; 7 grandchildren; a brother, David (Pat) Newell of Bedford, Texas; and two sisters, Sandra Laube of Waverly and Nancy (Bill Bloker) Millsap of Janesville, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Roger; a daughter, Julie; and a son, Tim.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly with Pastor Chantz Hall officiating. Family will greet friends Saturday from 9am until the time of the service. Memorials may be directed to Gerry’s family and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
