Floyd Eugene Moeller, age 84, of Waverly, died Thursday, January 27, 2011, at the Tripoli Nursing Home in Tripoli, Iowa.

Floyd was born on June 11, 1926, in Tomah, Wisconsin, the son of Ernest and Mabel (Pothast) Moeller. Floyd and his family moved to Sumner, Iowa in 1931, and then to the family farm north of Waverly in 1936. He attended Lafayette Country School #1 until the 8th grade and in 1944 graduated from the Waverly High School. Floyd then worked as a farm hand until being drafted into WWII in 1945. He was discharged in 1946 and returned to the family farm where he would dairy farm and row crop. On June 3, 1954, Floyd was united in marriage to Ruth Albrecht at the Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton. Floyd also helped start E.F. Moeller and son trucking in 1947 and ran that until 1969. He then strictly farmed until he was unable due to Parkinsons. Floyd was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly and his enjoyments included woodworking, tinkering with mechanics, tractor pulls, cutting wood, playing and watching baseball, roller skating, ice skating, and most of all watching his grandsons grow up.

Floyd's memory is honored by his wife, Ruth Moeller of Waverly, his three children and their spouses, Suzanne (Anthony) Ostle of Overland Park, Kansas, Bob (Rhonda) Moeller of Waverly, Iowa, and Daniel (Joanne) of Indianola, Iowa, five grandsons, Ryan and Randall Moeller and Matthew, Allan, and Alexander Ostle, a sister, Ruth (Gordon) Foster of Waverly and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two nieces, Donna Albrecht and Darla Allison, and a nephew, David Foster.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, January 31, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Waverly with Pastor Joyce Sandberg officiating. Burial will follow at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery where the Waverly Veterans organizations will give honors. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, January 30, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly where the family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice, Tripoli Nursing Home or to the donor's choice and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
