Erwald Henry Moeller, 84, of Readlyn, Iowa, died on Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the Shell Rock Health Care Center of natural causes.
Erwald was born on May 8, 1919, Maxfield Township, Readlyn, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Ida (Pape) Moeller. He attended Key country school near his families home and later on attended parochial school at Zion Lutheran. He was united in marriage to Blanche Thies on February 6, 1947 at Zion Lutheran Church, Readlyn. After their marriage the couple made their home on a farm near Waterloo for the first two years of their marriage. They then moved to their farm northeast of Readlyn. Along with farming Erwald drove school bus for Wapsie Valley schools for 22 years. The couple retired in 1980 and moved to their home in Readlyn.
He was a lifetime member of Zion Lutheran Church where he had served many years on the church council. He was chairman of the trustees of Franklin Township for many years. His favorite past time was reading. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, bus trips. He especially enjoyed his children and grandchildren. Five days ago he was moved to the Shell Rock Healthcare Center.
He is survived by his wife, Blanche, one son, Dale Moeller and his wife, Deb of Dunkerton, Iowa; one daughter, Joan Pence of Waverly, Iowa; two grandchildren, Amity Pence of Waverly, Iowa and Ryan Moeller of Ames, Iowa; two sisters, Edna Kuhlmann and her husband, Werner of Readlyn, Iowa; and Esther Poock of Readlyn, Iowa;
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Carl Moeller, and one sister, Olinda Klemp, two brother in laws, Leo Klemp, and Herold Poock.
Funeral Services will be Friday May 30, 2003 at 10:30 am at Zion Lutheran Church, Readlyn with Pastor Alfred Kruse officiating. Burial will be in Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Readlyn. Visitation will be from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Thursday at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Readlyn. Memorials may be directed to the Zion Lutheran Church.
