Duane D. Dana, 37, of rural Shell Rock, Iowa passed away on March 29, 2019 in Waterloo, Iowa.
Duane Dale Dana was born on January 2, 1982, the son of Douglas Dana and Allison Freeman Lutz in Iowa City, Iowa. He grew up and attended school in Iowa City. He loved to play baseball and was a member of several traveling teams, where he played centerfield. Duane moved to the Janesville/Waterloo area in 2000. He worked various jobs, Duane eventually went on through the apprentice program and became a Journeyman Sprinkler Fitter and a member of Local 669, reaching 13 years in the trade.
He enjoyed living in the country, surrounded by wild life and close to a place to put his boat in for a day of fishing. Duane loved fishing, hunting and all sports. He was proud of taking Dalton deer hunting for the first-time last fall and watching him play baseball.
Survivors are his son, Dalton Duane Dana of Waterloo, Iowa; mother and step father, Allison and Denny Lutz of Magnolia, Mississippi; father and step mother, Doug and Kathi Dana of Finchford, Iowa; two sisters, Ashley Dana and Danielle Dana both of Waverly, Iowa; brother, Drew Dana of Waterloo, Iowa; two stepbrothers, Tim (Wynona) Kollmann of Littleton, Colorado and Nick (Kristin) Kollmann of Loveland, Colorado; maternal grandparents, Bob and Hazel Freeman of Zachary, Louisiana; two nieces, Keeli Kollmann and Ava Phillips, nephew, Blake Kollmann and many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Buck and Jean Dana and maternal step grandparents, Harvey and Marge Miller.
Duane’s body has been cremated. The family will receive family and friends on Wednesday, April 3rd from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, Iowa. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Finchford Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Dana family to be placed in a college fund for Dalton and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
