Douglas “Toby” G. Truex, 69, of New Hartford, Iowa, passed away Thursday, January 18, 2018, at his home in New Hartford.
Doug was born December 22, 1948, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Lester and Edna Mae (Rogers) Truex. He graduated from Dike-New Hartford High School and attended Iowa State University. He began working for the Illinois Central Railroad at the age of 16 and retired from Chicago Central Railroad in 2002. He enjoyed being outdoors where he could be found fishing, hunting and camping.
Doug is survived by three brothers; Roger (Nancy) Truex of New Hartford, Russ (Rita) Truex of New Hartford and Dallas (Tracy) Truex of Blue Springs, Missouri, one sister; Terri (Jim) Truex of Oelwein and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at the Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford with Pastor Jerry Avise-Rouse officiating. A reception will follow from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the New Hartford Community Building. Memorials may be directed toward the family and on-line condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
