Donna Marie Patrie, 58, of Charles City, Iowa, died Sunday night, August 5, 2018, of natural causes in her home.
Donna was born on July 29, 1960, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Lorene Dorothy (Boerschel) and Conrad Christopher Stumme. She was baptized on August 7, 1960 and confirmed on March 23, 1975, both at St. John Lutheran Church-Western Douglas. Donna attended school in Tripoli and graduated from Tripoli High School in 1978. She then attended and graduated from beauty school. After working for a beauty shop in Charles City, Donna opened Donna’s Beauty Shop in Plainfield. She owned and operated her business for twenty-five years before retiring in 2006. On August 15, 2008, Donna was united in marriage to Lyle Patrie at St. John Lutheran Church - Western Douglas. Lyle passed away in May of 2013.
Donna was a faithful member of St. John Lutheran Church-Western Douglas, and taught Sunday School for many, many years. She enjoyed Christian fellowship, as well as reading, and going to the movies with Grace. She also loved riding horses and feeding the ducks by the river.
Donna is survived by her daughter, Grace Marie Melson; six sisters, Marlys Biermann, Marlene (Fred) Homeister, Marian Meyer, Janice Tonne, Joyce (Bob) Beck, and Diane (Bruce) Dann; three brothers, Roger (Jana) Stumme, Lynn (Deb) Stumme and Dean (Kathy) Stumme; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Lyle; her parents, and one sister in infancy, Sharon Stumme; three brothers-in-law, John Biermann, Harold Meyer, and Vernon Tonne; and two nephews, Larry Biermann and Mark Homeister.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 10, 2018, at St. John Lutheran Church-Western Douglas, with Pastor Kim Thacker officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 9, 2018, at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Memorials may be directed to St. John Lutheran Church-Western Douglas Sunday school for Operation Christmas Child, and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com.
