Daniel Dean Boevers, 55, of Readlyn, Iowa, died on Tuesday, September 14, 2010 at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo.
Dan was born on November 22, 1954, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of Reinhart and Lauretta (Wittenburg) Boevers. He was baptized on December 5, 1954 and confirmed on March 30, 1969 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Readlyn. He graduated from Wapsie Valley High School in 1973 and then attended Ellsworth Community College. He was united in marriage to Barbara Lynn Hartman on October 5, 1974 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Fairbank. Dan farmed for a few years, worked at Boubin Muffler, Craig Foster's Ford, was an AAL insurance rep, and worked at Readlyn Farmers Co-Op. He was currently working at John Deere in Waterloo.
Dan enjoyed fishing, golfing, boating, he especially enjoyed socializing with friends and family in his garage.
He is survived by his wife, Barb of Readlyn; son Anthony (Sheila) Boevers of Readlyn and daughter, Lisa (Ryan) Peterson of Lemoore, California; two grandchildren, Jalynn and Zachary and one on the way; two sisters, Renae (special friend, Virgil Bruns) Bockholt of Janesville, Iowa and Inez Christensen of Santa Barbara, California; a sister-in-law, Karan Boevers of Readlyn, and his nieces and nephews.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, two brothers, James and Dean Boevers; one sister, Patricia Boevers; a sister-in-law, Jane Boevers and a brother-in-law, John Christensen.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2010 at 10:30 am at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Readlyn. Burial will be in St. Matthew's Lutheran Cemetery, Readlyn. Visitation will be held on Friday from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Readlyn.
