Craig Brent Liming, 67, of Hereford, Arizona, and formerly of Janesville, Iowa, passed away in his sleep of natural causes at his home in Sierra Vista on Sunday, August 19, 2018.
Craig was born on March 16, 1951, in Ames, Iowa, the first-born children of Delbert Maurice and Zona Colleen (Atkinson) Liming. He attended the Janesville School System, graduating in 1969. Craig then attended and graduated in 1973, from Wartburg College in Waverly with a degree in English.
In 1991, Craig met Laura Cardinal and they married on March 13, 2003. He operated Body Works Therapeutic Massage in Sierra Vista for 15 years and later joined the practice of Cardinal Law as head of IT.
More inside Craig was a nationally and internationally recognized triathlete for most of his adult life. Earning more awards than can be listed, he was named Top Male Athlete of the decade in 2010 by the Sierra Vista Herald, was the six-time champion of the Cochise County Cycling Classic (45 mile); a member of the Team USA competing in triathlons in the US, Mexico and Canada. In 1999, he won the National Sprint Triathlon Championship in Oceanside, California.
Craig his survived by his loving wife, Laura of Hereford, Arizona; his mother, Colleen Liming of Cedar Falls, Iowa; his brother, John (Diane) of Janesville, Iowa; and his two sisters, Janet Liming of La Porte City, Iowa and Patti Morrill (Denny) Geuder) of Janesville, Iowa. Craig was preceded in death by his father, Delbert Liming on December 31, 2000.
Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Janesville, with Pastor Mike Carey officiating. Private burial of his cremains will be held in the Oakland Cemetery in Janesville. The family will greet friends from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at the Janesville United Methodist Church. Following the services there will be a time of fellowship and lunch at the church. Memorials may be directed to the Buena High School Biking Team or any youth sport in Cochise County.
