Carla Marie Oler, 66, of Parkersburg, Iowa, passed away on Friday, May 24, 2019, at MercyOne-Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo.
Carla was born on August 17, 1952, in Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Carl and Lucille (Boyle) Youngberg. Carla was raised in New Hartford area. Carla was united in marriage to Robert Oler on July 6, 1974, at the Parkersburg Christian Reformed Church. After their marriage, Carla and Bob moved to rural Parkersburg.
Music was very special to Carla and she enjoyed playing the piano and singing for area churches and nursing homes. She always enjoyed a game of dice and was known for her love of laughter. Carla especially enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
Carla is survived by her husband, Bob Oler of Parkersburg; a son, Brian (Mary) Oler of Aplington; three grandchildren, Shawn, Karissa and Serenity Oler; her brothers and sisters in law, Jim (Pam) Oler of Raymond; Carol Pies of Aplington; Gale Henry of Janesville; Brenda Youngblood of Florida and Scott (Karla) Oler of Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Lucille Youngberg; her mother and father in law, Mildred and Dale Oler; her step father-in-law, Leo Rewerts; two brothers-in-law, Dick Henry and David Oler; and a niece, Emilea Oler.
A celebration of Carla’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg with Pastor Brian Koelsch officiating. Burial will be held in Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford. Visitation will be held on Monday from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the First Congregational Church in Parkersburg and also for one hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family.
