Andrew James Shoultz, 47 of Shell Rock, Iowa and formerly of Muscatine, Iowa, died on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at his home in Shell Rock.
Andy was born on December 11, 1969, in Muscatine, Iowa, the son of Gloria Fay (Fluegel) and William John Shoultz Jr. He was baptized on March 29, 1970, and confirmed on April 6, 1986, both at Island United Methodist Church in Muscatine. He graduated from Louisa-Muscatine High School in 1988. Farming was a huge part of this life and while in high school he enjoyed participating in 4-H and FFA. In, 1989, he won a national award with the FFA for Fruit and Vegetable Production. After high school, Andy farmed in the Muscatine area. He owned and operated AJS Farm Toys for more than 25 years. He was united in marriage to Denise Ann Laube on November 15, 2003, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville, where he was currently a member.
His pride and joy were Clara and Addison, if it was taking to school or watching their dance classes or simply spending time with them. Andy loved to cheer on the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and the Chicago Bulls. He was an avid Hawkeye fan, loved to cook and toy tractors were a huge part of his life.
Andy is survived by his wife, Denise Shoultz of Shell Rock; and their two daughters, Clara and Addison Shoultz; his sister, Deb (Don) Briggs of Fruitland, Iowa; three nephews, one niece and three great nieces; aunt, Myrt Sheldon of Orion, Illinois; and his cousins; father and mother-in-law, Arlan and Diane Laube of Clarksville, Iowa; three sisters-in-law, Lori Shoultz of Winfield, Iowa; Donna Laube of Stewartville, Minnesota and Dixie Laube of Kahoka, Missouri. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents William and Gloria Shoultz and his brother, John Shoultz.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. at the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville with Pastor Linda Myren and Pastor Jim Brown officiating. Burial will be in Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Shell Rock and also for one hour before services on Thursday at the church. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
