Cynthia Sue Schmadeke, age 64, of Clarksville, Iowa and formerly of Bristow, Iowa, died Thursday, January 31, 2019, at her home.
Cindy was born on July 16, 1954, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Roy and LaVon (Arjes) Wiebke. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Vilmar, rural Greene, Iowa. Cindy was raised in Bristow and graduated from the Allison-Bristow High School in 1972. Cindy then attended airline school in New York and eventually worked for Pan Am Airlines for a few years. On December 4, 1976, Cindy was united in marriage to Marvin Schmadeke at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Vilmar. The couple made their home in Clarksville. Cindy spent several years raising her boys, then went to work for John Deere in Waterloo, and later for Zoetis in Charles City, where she would work for over twenty years. Cindy retired in 2013 due to failing health.
Cindy was a past member of St. John’s Lutheran Church-Vilmar and a current member of Immanuel United Church of Christ in Clarksville. Cindy’s greatest enjoyment in life was time with her family, especially her granddaughter Alannah, they spent many good times together baking and getting pedicures and manicures. Cindy also enjoyed camping, traveling, vacationing in Minnesota, bird watching, snarling at the squirrels, and going for walks with her dog Lilly. Her sense of humor and wittiness will be missed by all who knew her.
Cindy’s memory is honored by: her husband, Marvin Schmadeke of Clarksville; two sons, Erik (Megan Arends) Schmadeke of Babbitt, Minnesota and Clint (Terri Hay) Schmadeke of Charles City; granddaughter, Alannah Schmadeke; and a brother, Randy (Renee) Wiebke of Windsor, Colorado. Cindy was preceded in death by her parents.
Cindy has been cremated and memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 4, at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 203 Mather Street, Clarksville, Iowa, with Pastor Jim Brown officiating. Burial of cremains will follow at Lynwood Cemetery in Clarksville. Family will greet friends on Monday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
