Nancy Ann Higgins, 57, of Waverly, Iowa, passed away on Friday, November 9, 2018, at Mayo Clinic Hospital, in Rochester, Minnesota from complications related to cancer.
Nancy was born on May 1, 1961, in Iowa City, Iowa, the daughter of Patricia Anne (Wile) and Dr. Stanley Dayton Wise. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of six. Nancy graduated from Newport Christian High School in 1979, and from Wartburg College with a B. A. in Biology in 1983. She continued her education earning a B. A. in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Iowa in 1993.
On May 23, 1987, Nancy was united in marriage to Carl Rich Higgins at the Newport Mesa Christian Center, in Costa Mesa, California. The couple moved back to Iowa after living a few years in Kentucky. Nancy worked at State Bank in Waverly, in the auditor’s office for the City of Waverly, and most recently at the Target Distribution Center in Cedar Falls for the last six years.
Nancy is a member of the Life Church, previously the Open Bible Church in Waverly. She enjoyed working with stained glass, animals, traveling and photography. But most of all, she was very family oriented, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Nancy is survived by Carl, her husband of thirty-one years; one daughter, Amanda (Dr. Mike) Holyoak of Merriam, Kansas; two sons, Steven (Melissa) Higgins of Waverly and Michael (fiancé Kenzie Burkholder) of Waverly; two grandchildren, Brielle Holyoak and Shawn Higgins; her parents, Patricia and Stanley; one brother, Dr. David (Patricia) Wise of St. AlbansWest Virginia; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Woodleigh and Margaret Wile, and Paul and Frieda Wise.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, at Life Church/Open Bible in Waverly, with Pastor Matt Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Harlington Cemetery, Waverly. Visitation will be on Monday, November 12, 2018, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
