Obituary

Linda Joyce Ralph, 75, of Janesville, Iowa, passed away Wednesday night, October 10, 2018 at Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo, Iowa.

Linda was born on January 19, 1943, in Aplington, Iowa, the daughter of Minnie Emma (Lindaman) and Jake H. DeVries. She attended school in Aplington and graduated in 1961. On December 4, 1966, Linda was confirmed at St. Mathews Lutheran Church in Readlyn. On November 13, 1965, she was united in marriage to Wendell Ralph at the St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver, Iowa. Linda had a few jobs, but her favorite was working at Community Based Services and taking care of “her ladies.”

Linda was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Janesville and enjoyed quilting on Wednesdays with her church friends. She wasn’t the type to sit and let life pass her by. Linda was always smiling and would talk to anyone. When she was younger, she loved playing softball, and continued to play into her forties. She found great joy in camping and was great at fileting fish for fish fries. Linda drove everywhere, even if it included pulling their camper, and taught her best friend how to drive. She also liked annual trips to Adventureland, puzzles, cooking, canning tomatoes, play cards, and going shopping. She loved hats and clothes. Linda was frequently found riding her scooter alongside her husband, Wendell, on their frequent walks around town. However, family was her greatest love. She was always joking and laughing. Popping out her false teeth for her grandchildren as a joke will never be forgotten!

Linda is survived by her husband of 54 years, Wendell; two sons, Steve (Tami) Ralph of Iowa City, IA, and Jeff (Nan) Ralph of Prescott, AZ; three daughters, Lori Ralph of Naples, FL, Pam (Rick) Christopher of Janesville, IA, and Janet (Kent) Elenz of Clarksville, TN; ten grandchildren, Jeremy and Derek Ralph, David and Sarah Whitlock, Sage Addison, Brittany Wegner, Mitchell and Destiny Christopher, Jesse Rogers and Nikki Elenz; six great-grandchildren; three brothers, Murlyn (Pat) DeVries of Parkersburg, IA, Daryl (Irene) DeVries of Ackley, IA, and Vern (Marge) DeVries of Aplington, IA; brother-in-law, Art Renken of Aplington, IA; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sister, Jean Renken.

Funeral services for Linda will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 15, 2018, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Janesville, Iowa with Pastor Paul Schaedig officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery, Aplington. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation and online condolences may be left at www.kaisercorson.com. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family. 319-352-1187
