Arlan Lee “Arlee” or “Blackie” Lampe, 76, of Waverly, Iowa, passed away early Sunday morning, April 15, 2018, at his home in Waverly.
Arlan was born on July 29, 1941 in Frederika, Iowa, the son of Rosa (Korte) and Clarence August Wilhelm Lampe. After his education in Frederika, Arlan worked for his brother, LaVerne, at Lampe Construction in Sumner. In 1961, Arlan started as a laborer at Nestle (formerly Carnation), and retired September 30, 1997, as a supervisor. On December 3, 1961, Arlan was united in marriage to Mary Ellen Arenholz at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waverly. The couple lived in Waverly, where they raised their family.
Arlan enjoyed being outside doing landscape work and watching the hummingbirds. He also liked watching football; the Iowa Hawkeyes were his favorite team. He also enjoyed cars, young and old alike.
