Gordon “Gordy” Ralph Mueller, 70, of Cedar Falls, formerly of Denver and Waverly, passed away Monday, March 12, 2018, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota.
Gordy was born August 30, 1947, in Waterloo, Iowa, the son of George and Anna (Pipho) Mueller. He was baptized September 28, 1947 and confirmed 1961. From the age of five he worked on the family farm. He graduated from Denver High School with the class of 1965. He worked for the Readlyn Feed Mill and then began farming full time on the home farm shortly after graduating high school. On September 13, 1974, he was united in marriage to Sharon Heideman at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Denver. He continued to farm until 1979 when he started at Payless Cashways. After 21 years at Payless he pursued other interests and began working at Building Products Inc on January 21, 2002 until his retirement on March 1, 2016.
Gordon loved life and loved his family. He was a quiet man, but if the subject of farming came up you could expect a nice long visit. His lifelong purpose was to make sure everyone around him was happy. A hardworking, patient and perfectionist of a man, he prided himself on getting along with everyone. He loved the time he spent on the farm, loved his tractors, and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye Fan. Above all, he enjoyed spending time with his loving family.
Gordon is survived by his wife of 43 years, Sharon, one son; Aaron (Ashley) Mueller of Cedar Falls, one daughter; Angeline (Mike) Kelly of Cedar Falls, two grandchildren; Everly Mueller and Xander Kelly, three sisters; Kathryn Magee, Jean Bremer and Patty (Eric) Skuster. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister; Eunice Porter and brothers-in-law, Bill Porter and Jim Magee.
