Donna Mae Wilken, 81, of Clarksville, Iowa, died on Monday, March 12, 2018 at the Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehab.
Donna was born on July 27, 1936, in Clarksville, Iowa, the daughter of Jerry and Evelyn (Weinberg) Hartema. Donna was baptized on October 11, 1936, and confirmed on March 24, 1951, at St. James Lutheran Church in Allison, Iowa. Donna attended country school near Clarksville and graduated from Clarksville High School in 1954. On February 24, 1956, Donna was united in marriage to Walter A. (Wally) Wilken in Austin, Minnesota. The couple farmed from 1956 until 1977. Donna worked for the Waverly Sale Barn from 1977 until 1980. In 1980, she began working at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community in Waverly, until she retired in June of 2000.
Donna was a member of First United Church of Christ - Pleasant Valley, rural Clarksville, Iowa. In her spare time Donna enjoyed cooking, baking pies, sewing, and spending time with her family. She was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her children and grandchildren in their horse events.
Donna is survived by a daughter, Rita (Kaye) Ohrt of Plainfield; a son, Randall (Vicki) Wilken of Waverly; four grandchildren, Kyle Ohrt, Kayla Ohrt, Clayton (Jackie) Wilken and Caleb (Alli) Wilken; a great granddaughter, Lennox Wilken, and two “surrogate” great grandchildren, Hart and Mallory Kutzner; three sisters, Carol (Larry) Keller, Cedar Falls, Ardith (Robert) Voigts of Clarksville, Sharon (Darwin) Niehaus of Greene; two brothers, Marvin (Peggy) Hartema of Cedar Falls, Ronald (Susie) Hartema of Bloomington, Illinois. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
