Resided in Waverly, Iowa

Sharon Jean Roggemann, 78, of Waverly, Iowa, died on Sunday, March 11, 2018, at the Waverly Health Center.

Sharon was born on December 28, 1939, in Webster City, Iowa, the daughter of Lucille Belle (Harmon) and Lawrence Wilson Blankenship. She graduated from Sheffield High School in 1958. Sharon was united in marriage to Emil “Bud” Roggemann on March 8, 1959 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple lived in Charles City for 22 years, and after Bud joined Federal Mogel Corporation as a manufacturing engineer, they moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa, El Paso and Fort Worth, Texas and Boaz, Alabama. In 2000 the couple retired to Waverly to be close to family and friends. Over the years, Sharon had several different jobs including being a cosmetologist, and school secretary at Oskaloosa. Her final position included providing home cooked meals for the kids at Lutheran Services in Iowa.

Sharon was a member of the Red Hats and Peace United Church of Christ. She enjoyed gardening, swim exercise class, crossword puzzles, and playing Words with Friends, Scrabble and Pinochle. She really loved spending time with Bud and their family. Family memories include fishing trips to many destinations including Minnesota and watching the L.A. Dodgers in St. Louis and on television. However, her greatest passion was time spent with her grand and great-grandchildren.

Sharon is survived by a daughter, Pamela (Kevin) Slinger of Naples, Florida; three sons, Michael (Kristen) Roggemann of Lake Linden, Michigan, Mitchell (Lisa) Roggemann of Waverly, IA, and Philip (Karen) Roggemann of Camas, WA; one brother Dennis (Carolyn) Blankenship of Clermont, FL; ten grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; Bud in 2002; and one brother, Sherman Blankenship.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, March 16, 2018, at Peace United Church of Christ in Waverly with Pastor Jon Hennings officiating. Burial will be held in Hillside Cemetery in Sheffield, Iowa. Visitation will be on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., and also for one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday.
