Dorothy L. Renn, 89, of Clarksville, Iowa passed away on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at the Clarksville Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Clarksville, Iowa.
Dorothy Louise Renn was born on October 25, 1928, the daughter of Theodore C. and Esther (Hauswirth) Stille in Floyd county. On December 16, 1928, she was baptized at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Nashua and confirmed on April 18, 1943 at the Evangelical Reformed Church in Nashua. She attended country school in Nashua and graduated from Nashua High School in 1947. From 1947 until 1951, she was employed at Lutheran Mutual Insurance. On May 3, 1952, she was united in marriage to Virgil Carson Renn at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Dorothy then went to work at Shield Bantam now Terex for 30 years, retiring in 1995.
She was a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ - Pleasant Hill, rural Nashua and the Greene American Legion Auxiliary, Post #268. She enjoyed doing word searches, crossword puzzles and reading. However, her greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Survivors are her three daughters, Carla (Gene) Miller of Plainfield, Iowa, Holly (Richard) Hinders of Clarksville, Iowa and Terri (Yance) Jones of Clarksville, Iowa; son, Dean (Deb) Renn of Waverly, Iowa; 21 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and two sisters-in-law, Inez McCumber and Janice Stille. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil on March 18, 2010; granddaughter, Tiffanie Hinders on October 4, 1981; grandson, Jeremiah Miller on October 8, 1998; sister, Alice Speridon; and three brothers, Marvin in infancy, Roy and Theodore Jr. Stille.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 10:30 am at St. John’s United Church of Christ - Pleasant Hill rural Nashua, Iowa with Pastor John Cofield officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly, Iowa and also an hour prior to the service on Thursday at the church.
