Obituary

Robert Paul Foster of Waverly, Iowa passed peacefully to his heavenly home on March 12, 2019 surrounded by family. Bob was born on June 15, 1950, in Waterloo, IA, son of Roland and Jeanette (Cole) Foster in Waterloo, Iowa. Bob grew up in LaPorte City, Iowa and graduated from LaPorte City High School in 1968 where his love of music and sports began especially his love for football. He attended Wartburg College majoring in vocal music from 1968-1972.

Bob married his lovely bride, Diane (Frahm) Seehase, on January 9, 1988 at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Bob was diagnosed in February 1996 with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia and received a stem cell transplant in February 2012 at Mayo Hospital in Rochester, Minnesota. Diane continued to be his caregiver, cheerleader, and supporter throughout the past 23 years. Together they embraced their marriage and their journey with faith and devotion to each other. They were often seen laughing, praying, and hanging out together finding joy in the big and the little things life brought their way.

Bob loved being a dad to Diane’s sons Travis and Tony. It was his greatest joy to watch them participate in high school sports and even do play-by-play of their high school basketball games. He has loved helping to guide them as they grew into adulthood and support them in any way they needed. Bob was a passionate and intense dad and left his children with a deep lasting faith, knowing the difference between never giving up and fighting, and the knowledge of how to live a life full of love and service.

Bob had a passion for fishing as he loved the thrill and chase of catching the perfect fish along with the peacefulness of the outdoors. In addition, he enjoyed connecting with others around the world using his ham radio. He would always bug Diane for a bigger radio in order reach more people around the world.

Bob’s love of radio began while being a student at Wartburg College where he worked for the college station, KWAR. His passion for radio grew as he began his first official radio job at KCFI (Cedar Falls, IA) where he was an announcer and the news director. Throughout his professional radio career Bob worked at several radio stations that took him across Iowa and the entire country where he announced high school sports, Iowa State football games on the Cyclone Radio Network, the Indianapolis 500, “Thunder on the Ohio” hydroplane boat racing in Evansville, Indiana, along with many other sporting events. Bob’s love of radio ended where it all began at the same station within the same office in Cedar Falls at 1650 “The Fan”. For those of you who listened to Bob over the years and most recently on “Breakfast with Bob”, knew his passion for radio and his love for his audience was evident in each and every broadcast.

Bob is missed by his lovely bride, Diane Foster, his two sons and their families Travis and Pamela Seehase and their children Elizabeth, Elias, and Laura of Tripoli, Iowa and Tony and Danielle Seehase and their children, Alexis Bennett, Marissa Thompson, and Ashton Seehase of Waterloo, New York and Tylor and Brennen Seehase of Tripoli, Iowa. He is survived by two siblings, Virginia (David) Bass and Rodney Foster. He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
