David W. Seegers, 62, of Denver, Iowa, died on October 21, 2010 at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo of cancer.
David was born on February 16, 1948, in Bremer County, Iowa, the son of Willard and LaVera (Dettmer) Seegers. He attended Denver High School and graduated in 1966. He received his Masters Degree in Business from U.N.I in 1973. He was united in marriage to Mary Bartling on November 3, 1967, at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Mount Vernon Township. Dave worked for John Deere as a general superintendent of manufacturing for 21 years and then along with Jay Ranard purchased the John Deere Implement Dealerships in Waverly and Greene. They were co owners from 1989-1997. He retired this year due to health reasons after working in management with Featherlite Inc. in Cresco.
Dave also farmed together with his son, Shane until his retirement. He enjoyed fishing, traveling, spending time with his friends and family, especially his three grandsons.
He is survived by his wife, Mary of Denver; one daughter, Stacy Baas of Denver, and one son, Shane Seegers (special friend, Lindsey Wilson) of Denver; three grandsons, Devin, Brady, and Trevor Baas all of Denver; three brothers, Dan (Jodi) Seegers of Denver; Mike (Jody) Seegers of DeSota, Wisconsin; Bruce (Connie) Seegers of Florida; and one sister, Paulette (Dave) Daniels of Boerne, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 25, 2010 at 1:00 pm at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Mount Vernon Township, rural Cedar Falls, Iowa. Burial will be in St. Paul's United Church of Christ Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Denver.
